What's the big deal about Shah Rukh Khan? some ask...

Today I'm dedicating this post to talk about one of my all-time favorite actors. The Bollywood Icon: Mr.Shah Rukh Khan.
There ahve been many ignorant people or movie critics (if you'd like to call them that) who have directed several accusation towards SRKin the past, being it that he is over hyped or that he could do better and should move on to different things, or that's he's not a method actor and shouldn't be called the "BEST" and many others. Today, I give you my personal opinion about the matter.

See, I'm a movie Buff and up till recently, I wasn't much interested in Hindi cinema, don't get me wrong, most of the Hindi films I've seen on TV (mostly Akshay kumar's or Salman's) were "leave you brain at the door and come watch"kinda films. If you've spend your whole life watching American and European movies, they're high on well crafted action sequences, painfully logical scripts and superiority written dialogues and screenplays. All in all I hated Bollywood! to me, Bollywood =Trash cinema.

Then one fine evening my friend handed me a DVD or MNIK, I've heard of SRK Before (who hasn't?!) but I wasn't interesting..then She MADE me watch it...and something miraculous happened that left my family stunned...yes STUNNED...I cried watching a movie, it was the first time in my entire 20 yrs of life I've actually shed real tears for a Movie!!

When the movie was over I ran straight to my computer and typed Shah Rukh Khan into google...and from them I couldn't, wouldn't, and wont stop looking him up each and every single day. I've watched each and every single film of his in 1 month...I think he was brilliant in most, was Ok in some and was terrible in many...
:p

When I come to compare SRK in my mind, I don't use names like Brad Pitt, Tom cruise, he's not of they're caliber he's mush much better....I use name like Al Pacino, Rovert De niro and Jack Nicholson! Why? because the 3 of them (who are living legends of American cinema) were often accused of being too flamboyant, too over the top and overlay overrated...Witch we all know, they're NOT...

On the versatility issue, these people are Mad, For a man who started out by playing Negative roles and having the privilage of being sited in Encyclopædia Britannica's "Encyclopedia of Hindi Cinema" it was stated that "he defied the image of the conventional hero in both these films and created his own version of the revisionist hero."

Then moved to a man's Hero by playing the tough, suave, action hero, to comic roles and then ending it by being the most "celebrated romantic hero of his time.
How can they even dare say he's not versatile?!!

Sometimes I feel like Indian media want him to be PERFECT...Each film of his has to be Huge at the Box Office, he has to give his best performance in each role, every movie he produces need to be well made...But they completely miss the point of Cinema as an Art...They stated treating it as Business. Witch is immensely sad. Cinema is purely experimental, there is no fixed formula success., for him to achieve what he did at his age...He's nothing less of miraculous.

See, the problem of "them" is the fact that they're under-educated when it comes to Cinema of the World...
